Navila Tirtha is a rocky and mountainous village in the Belgaum district’s Savadatti Taluk. The beauty of this region is enhanced by the serene river, Malaprabha River that flows through it. A major attraction of this popular picnic spot in Belgaum is a dam known as Renuka Sagar. It is also called Navilteerth Dam or Malaprabha Dam. Built in 1974, it sits across Malaprabha River. The dam is Karnataka’s shortest dam with a length of 41-meters and a height of 155-meters. Navila Tirtha village is also religious and historical significance too. It is believed to be the site where Shri Kumaraswamiji of Tapovan had motivated to attain Nirvana.
